Image

The SiteCaster Editor supports images in the following formats: JPG, GIF, PNG, and SVG. In the properties dialog under Image - Source you can select, whether you want to upload an image file of the mentioned formats or if you want to use an already uploaded file from another project, if this is enabled in the project settings.

1. Image properties

There are four different Fit options that you can use to adjust the way images adapt to the boundaries of the element:

1.1 Fit (no cropping, possible bars)

Selecting this option will retain the image's original aspect ratio and then resize it in a way that it uses the maximum available height and/or width of the element until the image "touches" the horizontal and vertical borders of the element. Unless the containing element has the same aspect ratio as the image this can lead to parts of the element not covered by the images and might show "bars" instead.

1.2 Fill (can result in cropping, no bars)

This option also retains the image's original aspect ratio, however the image will be resized so that the element is completely covered by the image. This means that unless the element and the image have the same aspect ratio, that parts of the image might extend beyond the borders of the element and will not be shown (cropped).
1.3 Original

This option not only retains the image's original aspect ratio but also the exact height and width in pixels. Unless the element has the same dimensions (height and width) as the image, this can lead to either parts of the image being cropped, or parts of the element not being covered by the image, depending on whether the image or the element is larger.

1.4 Stretch (can result in distortion)

To ensure that the container element is completely covered by the image and the image is not cropped, you can select the Stretched option. This will automatically adjust the image's height and width to match those of the containing element. Please note that this option does not take the aspect ratio into account and can lead to the image being distorted to a certain extent (the amount of distortion depending on how close the aspect ratio of the element and that of the image are).
